Heritage Quilting Bee

We decided it was time to have a quilting bee specifically designed for quilters who love to work with reproduction fabrics. To that end, this year's wokshop is focusing on a beautiful and unique quilt called "It's Not a Square" which uses Carol Hopkins book "The 4" x 5" Anthology".  The finished quilt contains 72 blocks and measures 57" x 78". ***
The group meets regularly on the fourth Monday of the month. Each month you cut out and start work on six different 4" x 5" blocks. During the workshop, Sue details the blocks, adding helpful hints and tips based on her experience making the blocks.

Option One: $179.00 Buy the kit that features the "American Swatchbook" fabrics by Judy Rothermel. (Judy developed this line specifically for this quilt.) This kit includes all the fabric for your quilt top and binding, the twelve set of direction booklets that coordinate with these fabrics, and a copy of the Hopkins book. The workshops are free of charge.

Option Two: $20.00 a month. On Month 1 you receive a copy of the Hopkins book and Judy Rothermel's American Swatchbook fabrics. On Month 12 you receive the finishing kit. Pattern sets that coordinate with these fabrics are distributed each month.

Option Three: $10.00 a month if you are using fabrics from your own stash. Prerequisite: your own copy of "The 4" x 5" Anthology"

Skill Level: Confident Beginner

***The story behind this quilt is an interesting one:
Carol Hopkins, the noted designer, and a group of her friends challenged each other to swap blocks that measured 4" x 5".  They recreated some classic blocks and also designed more than 50 original blocks that no one had ever seen, ending up with 182 different blocks. Carol then developed the book - "The 4" x 5" Anthology" -  that contains instructions for making all of these blocks. It is a treasure trove that you will find useful to own.
